Rehoboth Beach: Seaside Charm by Tymone Oaklin
If you have never been to Rehoboth Beach Delaware, then you are missing a beautiful, seaside town. Dubbed the ‘Nation’s Summer Capital’ because of the droves of visitors from Washington DC and the surrounding areas, Rehoboth Beach will give you plenty of treasures to search for. In the downtown area there are over 200 different shops, restaurants, stops for coffee, galleries and the like. It is definitely a place that you will want to make your own little beach.
Like most small town, it definitely has its small town charms. Situated on the eastern shore of Delaware, Rehoboth Beach is much like other beach towns with its boardwalk, Thrashers Fries, beach shops and the like. However, this is where the similarities end. Rehoboth Beach is a town that has something for everyone to do year round. During the winter months there is the Mardi Gras Weekend where everything starts to look, sounds and taste like New Orleans. In the spring there is a kite festival, large public garage sales and various other activities. In the summer, there is the sand, sun and surf as well as other family oriented activities including sandcastle building and 4th of July fireworks. In the fall there is the Sea Witch Festival and Jazz Festival. There is something for everyone to partake in year round.
If you tire of the sand and surf you will not have to go too far to find something to do. There is outlet shopping galore within a five mile radius. If shopping is not your thing, then there are state run parks to explore including Cape Henlopen State Park, Holts Landing State Park, and Beach Plum Island State Park. There is definitely a lot to explore along this small eastern seacoast. If you are not the outdoors type, but are looking for fun then look no further than Jungle Jim’s. It is a place for the family to enjoy water slides and other water activities in the water park, mini golf, and they even have a whole sports area where you can rock climb or hit the batting cages.
Rehoboth Beach is a great place to take the family or enjoy a nice romantic get-a-way without the kids. It is a place that has something for everyone no matter the age. Rehoboth Beach is a great place to visit year round.
